All kind of evil forces like ghosts, spirits, demon etc. keep away from the place where it is used. It is used as Mat, ring during puja ceremony on right hand ring finger while chanting vedic mantras, performing homa and all religious rituals. Single leafed kusha grass is used for ceremonies related to death. Two leafed kusha grass is used for Auspicious and daily routine. Three leafed kusha grass is used for inauspicious but not death related function like Amavasya etc. Four leafed kusha grass is used for Prayers in a temple. For purification of place like house , temple, office etc. This kusha grass dip in holy water and sprinkles on different places. During fire ritual, Kusha Grass is placed on all four sides of fire to help block all negative radiations . During eclipses, Kusha grass are placed on vessels, containing water and food , so that negative effect of rays from eclips does not spoil them. For religious purposes, it is not cut or plucked on every day , but only on next day after full moon day on Krishna Paksha.
